When I first heard LA based Foster The People’s debut single, “Pumped Up Kicks”, I was blown away by the impossibly catchy and upbeat, yet smooth style. After receiving so much attention for “Pumped Up Kicks” and making us wait over half a year before we heard anything new, I wondered if Foster The People would be just another one hit wonder. After they released their self-titled debut EP on January 18, I knew we’d have something spectacular on the horizon. When I first heard the two songs that accompany “Pumped Up Kicks” on the EP–“Helena Beat” and “Houdini”–I couldn’t believe my ears. Not only are the songs wildly different than “Pumped Up Kicks”, they are equally fucking brilliant.
